Kokoda Track Itinerary

The itinerary below is for Executive Excellence’s 10 day trek of the Kokoda Track. Locations are indicative and subject to change at the discretion of the Trek Leaders management of group situation at the time. 


DAY 1 Fly to Port Moresby and book into the hotel for an afternoon of team administration/briefings and final packing for the trek.
DAY 2 ‘Hop’ a spectacular charter flight to Kokoda Village. Visit Australian Memorials before a short stroll to our campsite at the base of the Track (Deniki Village).
DAY 3 Early start on the Track, visiting the Isurava Memorial with an overnight stay at Alola Village.
DAY 4 Your aim this morning is not to be the first to fall in at the vine bridge crossing at Eora Creek! Progress to Templeton’s Crossing (Dump 1) for an overnight camp adjacent to a lovely creek.
DAY 5 Break camp and trek to the beautiful Kokoda Gap for a memorable lunch-break. The team advances on to Efogi Village (half way) where we camp for the night and take a well-earned rest.
DAY 6 This morning begins with a breathtaking climb to Brigade Hill, a place of wartime history and legend. After paying our respects we trek to Brown River to make camp.
DAY 7 We continue along the Brown River and make our way up the beginning of the false crests of Maguli Range to the village of Nauro. We then continue to push through the heart breaking 9 false crests of Maguli Range (don’t bother counting them) and descend to our camp site of Ofi Creek
DAY 8 We then climb Ioribaiwa Ridge down to Ua-Ule Creek, and after many creek crossings up and over Imita Ridge where we follow the remains of the ‘Golden Staircase’ constructed by the ‘Diggers’ on to our final night location Uberi.
DAY 9 A relatively flat walk towards Goldie River where upon we conquer the last formidable climb to Ower’s Corner – triumph! You’re there. Take a bus back to Port Moresby, stopping and paying our respects at the Bomana War Cemetery, before checking into the hotel – the afternoon is your own with a team banquet and awards that evening to enjoy.
DAY 10 Early transfer to the Airport and fly home.
