Mt Kinabalu Trek, Borneo
Located in Borneo, Malaysia, Mt Kinabalu is the highest mountain in South-East Asia and one of the highest mountains in the world that can be climbed without specific technical skills. At 13,455 feet, the act of reaching the summit is inspiring and an incredible achievement.
Following a direct flight from Brisbane to Kota Kinabalu we stay at the magnificent five star hotel. After breakfast the following morning, we transfer back to the domestic airport for a flight to Sandakan in East Borneo. Here we visit the powerful World War II memorials of the Sandakan Death Marches in which 1600 Australian and 750 British POW’s perished—only six Australian POW’s survived the marches. While in Sandakan we also visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Centre and have lunch at a local restaurant prior to transferring back to Kota Kinabalu.
