KIMBERLEY – ‘Wilderness Medicine’ Outback Experience

Trek Details

The Kimberley Wilderness Medicine Outback Experience is an eight day wilderness medicine adventure in the magnificent Kimberley region of north-west Australia. It will focus on the medical challenges of the remote Australian outback.

The faculty will cover topics including heat illness, water purification, envenomation and moving injured persons using a classroom of canoeing, trekking, helicopter transfer, abseiling, horseback riding and navigation exercises.

Starting out of El Questro station, a one million acre working cattle station, the team commences the adventure with a walk to the Pentecost River system, rendezvousing with our canoes for a two day paddle. The days are then spent walking through breathtaking gorges, before an exhilarating helicopter ride takes you to a remote maze of gorges, which prior to our first trip the Kimberley had never been completed by a nonindigenous trekking party.

The adventure culminates with an exhilarating abseil from the top of the spectacular Emma Gorge and a celebratory team dinner. What better learning environment for wilderness medicin.
